High-Quality Headphones - Custom Headphones Review
His first comments about the product came before it was even out of the box. The outside of the box literally has instructions on how to open the packaging!
The headphones presented a very wide soundstage with ample presence but not too much "air". As I stated above these are very warm sounding headphones. The wireless range extends through multiple walls (YMMV). I've had these about a week and I think they're great. These are pretty expensive headphones, I had expected to be able to go anywhere in my house (including the porch) and get a good signal, but that hasn't been the case. I don't know of any good alternatives, though, so I'll keep these and experiment with moving the transmitter so that I can get a better signal in other parts of the house. I tried various combinations of volume levels on the headphone and on my amp, but I couldn't resolve the issue. I talked to a Sennheiser rep to get around the issue, but I figured that they don't have solutions to this either. They were expensive but I use them for so much now that they were worth the money I spent, for sure. And they are so easy to store and charge on the base- they are always ready to use.
I purchased these wireless headphones for quiet listening late at night so I would not disturb other people. I have used the wired Sennheiser HD 414 headphones for the last 20+ years and have had zero problems with them. They have very reasonable range and auto-volume adjusts. NO extraneous noise. Everything considered I would recommend this headset highly to anyone! I bought this wireless headphone system to use while watching TV late at night, so I won't wake my spouse who sleeps upstairs above the TV room. The sound quality is nice, they handle bass without breaking a sweat, and lighter notes as well. There's silence where silence is to be expected; if there's hissing present in what you're listening to, you'll hear that as well. I'm impressed by the clarity and 'crispness' of the sound and good reproduction of lower frequencies. Comfortable to wear even for an extended time - easy to set up and use Cons: - power button on base station difficult to operate with one hand. If your source is turned up enough, you can fine-tune the volume on the back of the headphones with your right hand. Navigate around it with your right thumb as soon as you begin to use them and you'll be quickly acquainted.
These are open phones and provide absolutely no isolation from ambient noise. If you want sound isolation, consider the Sennheiser RS 170 closed wireless phones; also sold on Amazon.
Small delay may be a problem when using as hearing aid for TV I have used the Sennheiser model 130's for years and have been perfectly happy with them. I found them very comfortable and could wear them continuously without any discomfort.
I get around this by putting half a headband from a HD 280 in the groove between the cushions so that the pressure is spread between the top of my head and the sides. This works well, but why does the customer have to come up with a work around for such a problem?
